Is anybody out there into hay bale gardening?
Posted by Milly in Other - Home & Garden on 08 10th, 2008If you are hay bale gardening, tell me what plants are working for you and what plants aren’t. Do you have any helpful tips about hay bale gardening?
I started doing this 3 years ago and I love it! It is so much easier than regular gardening. You’re further off the ground, there are far fewer weeds and pests, it takes less water, you don’t have to “till” and the old hay turns into compost when you’re done!
Thanks!
How do I move my miniature roses?
Posted by Milly in Garden & Landscape on 08 9th, 2008I just moved into a new house and the lady that lived here before me has several mini roses planted in the back yard along the fence line that I would like to move to a different location but I’m not sure what to do. I live in southeast Louisiana, the bushes are each about a foot tall with a few long shoots. They appear to be climbers and have not yet bloomed. I want to move them to the front of the house so that they can climb the bricks. This area is shaded in the morning and gets full sun as the day goes on. Any tips on preparing the new bed as well as how to actually get them to climb the wall would be helpful too!

Do you have a book recommendation about Container Gardening for Vegetables?
Posted by Milly in Garden & Landscape on 08 5th, 2008I’m a novice gardener and I’m interested in starting a vegetable garden next year, but would need to do it in containers. Do you have any book recommendations for container gardening? I’m also looking for suggestions on how to get started and what would be easy to grow in containers. Thanks!
