read comments ()What “product” would you like/expect to receive from a gardening consultant?
Posted by Milly in Garden & Landscape on 09 26th, 2008I would like to take jobs as a gardening or landscaping consultant, working with homeowners as clients. I do not want to take measurements/draw landscape plans. That takes too much time outside of the meeting/appointment. I feel many people just want to pick my brain and ask questions anyway. But I feel I need to leave them with something, written notes, a list of plants, etc. I want them to feel they got their money’s worth. What would comprise a good product? I’d like to make up a form or sheet to use.
How do you arrange roses without a vase?
Posted by Milly in Garden & Landscape on 09 26th, 2008Well I bought roses just today, and I just bought it regular, with no vase, or leaves. Just roses with about a 10″ stem., in a plastic, bouquet. Im wondering how can you arrange them so, that we wouldn’t need a vase. I was thinking about tying the end with a ribbon, but It wouldnt look verygood.
Oh yeah, I put them in a small container filled with water, and flower food, so they can last long till tomorrow.

Posted by Milly in Garden & Landscape on 09 22nd, 2008Does anyone have any “Martha” tips on how to keep nails from looking like an auto mechanics when you are an avid gardener? Martha Stewart suggested to put rubber gloves under gardening gloves, but they make your hands sweat badly! Or, how best to clean “gardener’s hands?” Thanks!

How does someone become an expert on Gardening, get certified and make it a career?
Posted by Milly in Garden & Landscape on 09 21st, 2008I am interested in turning my small time hobby of gardening into a bit of a career. Are there classes, certifications, training that I can take in order to become an expert on plants, trees, etc? I’d like to have a deep knowledge of the various kinds of trees, shrubs, flowers that work in different climates, how to best plant and maintain them, to design landscapes with a variety of well-coordinated plants, etc. Should I try to become a certified arborist? Where do I start exploring this potential new career direction? Thanks.
