What kinds of plants grow well in the Fall/Winter?
Posted by Milly in Garden & Landscape on 12 19th, 2008Preferably outdoor, I want to know what kind of edible plants I can grow in the upcoming months (herbs, fruit, veggies). I live in Southeast Georgia (the state, not the country), and so the winter is relatively mild – no snow, but it can get pretty chilly. Soil isn’t a problem unless its too big to be grown in a bucket of potting soil, in which case it *probably* won’t be done anyway. Thanks for the help

Light bulb used to help grow plants in winter?
Posted by Milly in Engineering on 12 19th, 2008Hello,
I have to design a light bulb for a project. The light bulb needs to be a source of light that will help plants grow. The light bulb should fit in a regualr light bulb fixture. The main purpose of this light bulb is to be used during winters indoor to help grow plants. The bulb must waste the least possible amount of energy.
How would you design it?
What kind of light would the light bulb emit?
How will you prevent wasting electricity?
ALL pesponses are greatly apprectiated.

plants that can be put in the basement in winter for planting out next spring?
Posted by Milly in Garden & Landscape on 12 17th, 2008Are there any plants that would cope with a full sun hot sun setting all winter, but could be removed and stored in a cold basement all winter? Ideally they would be small enough that they could be contained in plastic pots that could be sunk in the ground during summer.
Should have clarified that I’d want to be able to do this every year with the same plants, ie, keep them in the pots and move the plastic pot back and forth.
Would cacti and lillies be okay with the repeated transfers?
