Gladiolus? Have never planted before?

Gladiolus
AMCgremlin asked:

I bought 2 boxes of Royal Dutch Gladiolus *large flowering*(towering Gladiolus) is what it also says on the box. I’ve never planted bulbs before. It gives directions. I need to know if these are perineals or annuals?? Can these bulbs just be left in the ground and protected over a winter?? Is this the kind of flowers that the bulbs have to be dug up?? I hope they can just stay right in the ground once I plant them there. Thanks for your help.
