parrotsdotorg asked:
Macaws opening palm nuts in the wild. Check out how this guy balances half a nut on top of another, easy as you please. Excerpted from Pollyvision: Strictly for Parrots, for full length and full quality, check out www.parrots.org

@ShreddGamer14 there are no Spinx’s macaws left in the wild, and there are (i think) around 60 in captivity.

These things look soooo odd! It kinda reminds me of Pokemon for some reason….however, it is fun to look at exotic things.

@MrShapiroman he’s actually a spix macaw. i highly recomend you do a little research on them(sounds like I’m dissing you but im not being sarcastic). I believe they are one of the most endangered animals. tell me what you think

@venicvenic It may differ depending on location. Point is though they aren’t cheap.

@BiTTjl Actually, these birds go for as much as 10 to 12,000$.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:18 am
@BiTTjl yes I have a Green Winged and a Blue and Gold. We want a Hyacinth.

@tobyhel0 You’d have to find a breeder. But they’re super expensive. More than $1000 depending on where you get it, and that’s not even including a large enough cage which can cost you another couple hundred. A bird like that’s an investment!

its really sad that these birds are endangered :/ id give any thing to be able to raise one of these. these birds arent just birds to some people, they can very well out live you. i know if i were privileged to raise one, i would treat it like my own flesh and blood

All animals should have a price, that way when they get rare the price will go up and more people will be interested in breeding them.
We will never run out of oil because as we use it up the price raises.
Government protection of wildlife is spotty at best, individuals such as the person who runs parrot.org are much more trustworthy then a democratic government that can change every few years.
Look up “free-market environmentalism”, to see more of what I mean.
