First I want to make it clear that this was a TEMPORARY CAGE. Kaiser already destroyed his first cage about one week ago which was much bigger. This cage has 6 mm bars, the last one had 5 mm bars. If you listen you can hear at least three welds snap in under 5 minutes. This is not the norm but can and does happen. Kaiser is only 2 years old. He was not doing this out of anger, or bordome (see all his toys and I was sitting in the room talking to him). He is just doing what normal macaws do, chew and destroy! in fact he loves the challenge now. If any of you plan to get a Hyacinth in the future please learn from this video. He has chewed through 2 cages but more importantly he has learned that it is possible and will continue to try with each new cage he gets. Is this a gamble you are willing to take??? My advice is to get your Hyacinth their forever cage in the beginning. SPEND THE MONEY. The potential for injury is great!!!
