What are Hardiness Zones?

The Plant Hardiness Zones divide the United States and Canada into 11 areas based on a 10 degree Fahrenheit difference in the average annual minimum temperature. (The United States falls within Zones 2 through 10). For example, the lowest average temperature in Zone 2 is -50 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit, while the minimum average temperature in zone 10 is +30 to +40 degrees Fahrenheit. See more.

Posted by Milly in Nonprofit on 09 18th, 2011Hugh Grant has launched Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal today (March 1) calling on people all over the UK to make a donation and wear a daffodil pin – the charity’s emblem – throughout March. Hugh has supported the charity as a fundraiser and ambassador since his mother died at home in 2001, cared for by Marie Curie Nurses. The actor has made a short film to promote the appeal. The film features Marie Curie Nurse Lorna McGarry and charity fundraiser Maria Gleeson.

A study has measured the electric fields emitted from these lamps and concluded that a certain distance is needed to keep well under international limits. Low- and medium-frequency magnetic and electric fields can induce electric currents in the body which, above a certain frequency, can stimulate the nerves and muscles. The Swiss study, undertaken for the federal offices of health and energy, found that medium-frequency electric fields were primarily responsible for these currents. Depending on the lamp, current field densities in the immediate vicinity reach 10-55 per cent of the exposure limit. To some the daffodil is just a flower. To us, it is a symbol of strength and courage, a symbol of life. It says we will not give up. It says we will fight back. It says we will beat cancer.

One way is to stop using Oil and Gas mowers. Use human powered mowers, or Electric which can be supplied by Alternative means (Wind, Solar, Hydro, etc…). Tractor mowers with a Diesil engine need to be run more on Vegetable Oil (Bio-Diesil). Switch to fuels that can be produced with Alternative energy, from the natural source.
