2 liter bottles work great, cut the bottoms off, turn upside down, and connect several together using 1 1/4″ pvc, you will need couplers, and tee’s, and pvc glue also. a small water pump for the water circulation, found at pet stores everywhere. nutrients for the water of course, and lava rock for the growing medium…
…sorry i don’t have a diagram to send you, it’s fairly simple though.

I have used 3″ PVC use 90′s and tee’s make a number 8 shape at one end have a 90 to drain into a catch basin where your pump will be, Rubbermaid totes work good, use a holesaw blade to cut your hole in PVC then use rockwool blocks in the holes you drill.

For a small and quick hydroponic garden, you could use a 10 gallon aquarium, w/pump, lava rock or similar material, foam board, and net pots. That is if your attending a science fair? Remember to follow directions on the bottles of nutrient solution. There are plenty of videos on YouTube regarding hydroponics. You can also go to Foothill Hydroponics website for more experiment ideas. I hope this helps as well.
