Planning garden for spring and want to plant field peas. What are they? ?
Melissa B asked:
I had a friend who planted them in her garden and I tried them. They are good. Been yrs ago. They reminded me of blk eyed peas. She was southern. Any idea what I plant to get them?

Field pea (also known as dry pea) differs from fresh peas in that field pea is marketed as a dry, shelled product for either human or animal food whereas fresh peas are typically marketed as a fresh vegetable for human consumption.
Obviously you’d have to grow them long enough for the pods to dry and then have to shell them and store the peas in a dry
area.
Apparently you can also eat them while green and in the pod:

Common name is Black Eye Peas. Super easy to grow. Be sure to plant lots and have fun shelling them.
