When I plant gladiolus they grow but very few bloom. ?
JAS asked:
I’ve started them early, mid-season, in different places, even in pots with the best potting soil. I live in zone 5. I have a lot of evergreens around the yard, could that make a difference? I have lots of other flowers that do well. Any ideas?

gladiolus loves sunshine place with draining soil. If you prepared a furtile soil with tons of compost and manure before planting them out, then the flowers will bloom more bigger and you need to dig them out once the leaves turn yellow at the end of the summer time.
Also you got to watch out one kind of disease which made leaves turning yellow before flowering.
I just don’t know when you plant the bulbs out… usually suppose around at the beginning of the summer cuz they are afraid of frost.
Be sure not planting them under the shade. That’s it. also not be too crowd better 20 cm apart from each bulb
