    They should be okay.
Just keep an eye on them ….they may be stunted for a week or two. If they don’t snap out of it and start to grow again….then I would quick replant.
It is still early enough in season to have time to grow another set of bulbs.

I have not tried this way with gladiolus bu with so many other plants. It’s rather behavioral, dealing with the nature of the plant. Most plants respond to it unless there are stems being cut off. It is the same way when you want to move the plant from its place in soil. You cut off half length of the leaves. Herein, your leaves are being cut already.

The process is done as the following:

    1. You drown-irrigate the place where the roots are, much water should be there around.

    2. You wait about 10 minutes, then pull the plant out of the soil. the root should be totally covered with water.

    3. you replant it in dry soil, in a hole enough to keep all the root covered with soil. Then irrigate it as normal, the same way you used to irrigate it before.

    4. You’ll notice that the plant looks like thirsty for the next 3 days. Don’t irrigate it until you see new growth in it.

    5. Treat it as normal concerning watering and fertilizers.

I hope this will work with your plant also.
    Good Luck
